This T-shirt was inspired by the film "Little Miss Sunshine." It's a hilarious movie starring Toni Collette and Greg Kinnear. You'll have to see it when it comes to theatres this summer. (I saw it at the Sundance Film Festival where it was so popular it set a record for the most money ever spent by a distributor purchasing a film at the festival.)

I was switching channels the other day and happened to catch a minute of Paris Hilton's show 'The Simple Life.' She had been staying with some Pakistani family and as she was leaving, gave the mother a t-shirt which said "Pakistanis are hot!"

I decided to poke fun at Paris' trademark "that's hot" phrase with this spoof of her Pakistanis are hot t-shirt.

Yah, the Pakistanis are hot and they need air conditioning. No offense meant to the Pakistanis. Some of them were good friends when I lived in Norway.

I used to be vegetarian, vegan actually. But not for ideological reasons. I actually felt a lot more healthy when I ate vegan. I'm thinking of going back to that, but I have no problem making fun of people who get so worked up about it.

I decided a while ago to make a series of T-shirts for various places I've lived or visited, such as Italy. This is the most recent design. I know there are other shirts which say ITALIA, but I never liked their font choices. I also liked the wavy flag design I came up with for the lettering. I superimposed an image of a wavy Italian flag over the word and used that to create this effect. What do you think?

I admit, I'm not quite sure what this slogan means, but I find it absurdly funny, nonetheless. I was watching Strangers With Candy and someone on the show was holding up a poster which said, "Do It For the Donkey!" and I thought that'd make a funny T-shirt.
I do know that the fictional Flatpoint High on the show has the "Concrete Donkeys" as their mascot, so I'm sure it had something to do with that.

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine said he wanted a T-shirt which said "TERRORIST" in red letters across the front. Because suddenly, to do the things all Americans have done all their lives, such as exercise their right to free speech and criticize George W. Bush and/or the war in Iraq suddenly had them labeled as helping terrorists. In Bush's worldview, Americans are Terrorists if they disagree with him.

I've Found Jesus

He was behind the sofa the whole time.

I love to make Jesus jokes because I believe Jesus would have an excellent sense of humor. I chose this sofa, although it's perhaps not the typical overstuffed sofa one usually thinks of, because this one was pretty funny looking to me. It's a torn, ripped up, stained old Victorian sofa. Not the kind of place you'd think Jesus would be hanging out.

And the whole theme of the T-shirt is pretty ironic. Here we were all down at the church when Jesus was behind the sofa the whole time!

Oddly enough, it didn't occur to me at the time I designed this T-shirt, but at my house Jesus is under the sofa. One of my sofas is missing a leg, so I have a big, thick old book titled "Jesus the Christ" holding up the corner of the sofa. Jesus is literally our pillar, our strength, our support!

Well, this T-shirt is an inside joke for the Mormons, or ex-Mormons as few active Mormons would be likely to wear this (or the underwear which goes along with it). It'll take some 'splaining. Mormons wear special underwear they call "garments." These garments are associated with what they call the Melchizedek priesthood. Before you go to the Mormon temple and get your "garmies," if you're a man, you hold the Aaronic priesthood...or the lesser priesthood. "Aaronics" is a slang some Mormon youth use to describe their regular pre-garment underwear. So, if you're wearing "Aaronic" underwear, you're not wearing Mormon "garments," you're just wearing regular old underwear like everyone else in America. Hopefully, this all makes some sense...not that Mormon underwear makes any sense, but, my explanation of the "Aaronics" underwear. I hope.

Prince Igor

This T-shirt was inspired by the rap song "Prince Igor" by Warren G and Norwegian classical singer Sissel. If you haven't heard it, you should. Sissel sings a line from the opera "Prince Igor" by Borodin during the chorus while Warren G raps. This T-shirt was inspired more by the video for the song which features Sissel up on the moon as some sort of silvery space alien. In the T-shirt I put Prince Igor up on the moon, though.

I wanted to make a T-shirt about NYC since I lived there for a few years and I love and miss it. But I wanted it to be artistic and sort of sarcastic, since I come from a pretty sarcastic family. I thought the idea of literally making it "I HEART NY" rather than a cutesy little heart to represent "love" was pretty funny and sarcastic and original.
